Tunley

Tunley has been an established driven shoot for more than 30 years, originally operating as a private syndicate before opening its doors to hosted days in recent years. The experience built up over decades is reflected in the management of the ground and the way the drives are laid out. The valley lends itself particularly well to driven shooting, with birds shown from a mixture of strategically positioned game crops and woodland on either side of the valley. A mixture of birds is presented across the drives, providing varied and sporting opportunities suitable for both novice and experienced guns. Days can be arranged around bags from 150 to 250 birds, allowing flexibility for different groups and requirements. The emphasis is on testing but enjoyable shooting, with a relaxed approach that ensures everyone can enjoy the sport regardless of experience.

A day at Tunley begins with a full breakfast before the party heads out into the field for the first drives. After two drives, the group stops for elevenses before returning to the shooting for a further two or three drives. The day is run in a welcoming, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with excellent hospitality forming an important part of the experience. Once the day's shooting is complete, the party heads to a local country pub to enjoy a traditional roast dinner and finish the day together. The combination of varied shooting, generous hospitality and the character of the Somerset countryside makes Tunley a thoroughly enjoyable day in the field, whether joining as an individual gun or as part of a larger team.
