Overview
La Cruz de Piedra is a family-run estate located in a small village in Guadalajara, just 50 minutes from Madrid. The land itself is truly spectacular, with striking red earth and open countryside that make the setting unique. We have a dedicated lodge for red-legged partridge shooting, a cosy 9-bedroom lodge offering guests an authentic and high-quality driven shooting experience in the Spanish countryside. We have recently expanded one of our shooting areas in Matarrubia. This will allow us to ensure an even greater number of partridges, while continuing to offer the high standards you know and expect from us.
A Day In The Field
A day at La Cruz de Piedra begins early, with guests gathering around a long, welcoming table to enjoy a relaxed breakfast among friends, setting the tone for the day ahead. Once everyone is ready, we drive out to the field, just a short seven-minute journey from the house. The day consists of several drives (“ojeos”), usually offering between eight and nine stands, providing an intimate and well-organised shooting experience. Mid-morning, we pause to enjoy a warm broth and a traditional Spanish “taco” — a light snack to recharge and socialise before continuing. After the shooting day, guests return to the house where, on sunny days, lunch is served on the terrace, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the surroundings. If the weather is cooler, lunch is enjoyed by the fireplace, creating a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. In the afternoon, guests can take a walk through the countryside or simply unwind at the house. The day concludes with a relaxed dinner shared with friends, rounding off a memorable and enjoyable experience.
About The Area
La Cruz de Piedra is located in a small village in Guadalajara, just 50 minutes from Madrid. Thanks to this proximity, the city is always within easy reach should guests wish to visit during their stay. The estate is set in a truly spectacular landscape, with striking red earth and open countryside that make the setting unique. Despite its rural feel, the area is well connected, sitting right next to a small village of around 50 inhabitants. To make access easy for our guests, we organise return transfers from Madrid or directly from the airport.
