Overview
Recognised by Shooting Gazette as one of Britain's Top 20 Best Shoots, Teffont Magna has earned an outstanding reputation for producing exceptional driven red-legged partridges, grey partridges, and pheasants in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Set across 3,500 acres of rolling downland, wooded valleys, and carefully managed coverts, the estate offers a varied and sporting day that appeals to both experienced Guns and those looking to develop their driven shooting. Owned and hosted by Ed Waddington, every day at Teffont Magna is personally overseen with a focus on exceptional bird presentation, genuine hospitality, and a relaxed atmosphere. From the famous signature drives of Chalkpit, Devil's Bank and Juniper to the towering pheasant drives of The L and Fir Drove, each drive has been developed to make the very best use of the estate's natural topography. Quality sport, warm hospitality, and meticulous attention to detail have made Teffont Magna one of the most sought-after shoots in southern England, where every guest is welcomed as though they were returning friends.
A Day In The Field
A day at Teffont Magna begins in the estate's charming converted shoot barn, where guests are welcomed with coffee before pegs are drawn from the bottoms of traditional sloe gin glasses. From there, Guns travel around the estate aboard the converted army lorry, adding to the character and camaraderie that defines the day. The morning's drives showcase the estate's superb variety, with sporting red-legged and grey partridges presented over rolling chalk downland before moving into the wooded valleys for outstanding pheasant drives later in the season. Whether tackling one of the estate's famous signature drives or discovering a new favourite, every drive offers a different challenge while making full use of the natural contours of the landscape. A traditional elevenses break features homemade refreshments including pheasant Scotch eggs, pies, and drinks before the shooting continues towards lunch. Guests then return to the shoot room to enjoy a locally sourced meal served alongside canapés, with refreshments flowing throughout the day. The afternoon concludes with further memorable drives before returning to the lodge to reflect on the day's sport. Throughout the experience, Ed Waddington, Head Keeper Richard Kilgour, and the entire team ensure that every detail is taken care of, creating a day defined not only by exceptional birds, but by genuine hospitality, professionalism, and a warm welcome that has become synonymous with Teffont Magna.
