Brimpsfield Park

Brimpsfield Park

Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England

Overview

Brimpsfield Park Estate is a stunning Cotswold estate located between Cheltenham and Cirencester, with a long-standing reputation as one of the finest driven pheasant and partridge shoots in the region. Set within classic rolling Cotswold countryside, the estate is made up of productive arable farmland interwoven with steep grass valleys that fall away into the surrounding hills, alongside mature woodland, coverts, and well-managed spinneys. Positioned between the historic Roman town of Cirencester and the elegant spa town of Cheltenham, Brimpsfield enjoys an ideal location, easily accessible from London, the Midlands, and the North, making it perfectly placed for both driven days and longer visits. The natural topography of the estate is one of its defining features. A series of valleys radiate from the main house, creating ideal conditions for consistently high-quality pheasants and partridges. This varied landscape allows for a wide choice of drives, enabling the day to be tailored to suit the weather, wind, and the ability of the Guns, ensuring a rewarding and well-balanced sporting experience. Brimpsfield Park offers driven shooting days from 300 upwards throughout the season, with a mixed bag of game, as well as simulated game days held during the summer months.

A Day In The Field

A day at Brimpsfield Park begins with a warm welcome at the estate, where guests gather for breakfast and a full briefing ahead of the shoot. It’s a chance to meet the team, run through the day’s drives, and head out into the Cotswold countryside as the morning light breaks over the valleys and farmland. The first drives of the day are set across the estate’s varied terrain, where steep grass valleys, woodland coverts, and open arable fields combine to produce challenging and memorable sport. Each drive is carefully planned to take advantage of wind and weather conditions, ensuring a varied and rewarding experience for Guns of all abilities. Mid-morning, the team pauses for elevenses in the field, a traditional break with hot drinks and refreshments before continuing on to the next set of drives. The late morning often brings some of the most exciting shooting, as birds move across the valleys and woodland edges. Lunch is taken back at the estate, offering a relaxed opportunity to unwind, enjoy seasonal food, and reflect on the morning’s sport in comfortable surroundings. The afternoon typically includes a final drive or two, rounding off the day with a satisfying finish in the field. Guests then return to the house or shoot lodge for tea, coffee, and cake, bringing the day to a close in true country style.

About The Area

Brimpsfield Park sits in the heart of the Cotswolds, one of England’s most iconic landscapes, known for its rolling limestone hills, honey-coloured stone villages, and patchwork of farmland and woodland. This is classic English countryside, where gently undulating fields give way to hidden valleys, ancient hedgerows, and pockets of mature woodland that define both the scenery and the sporting ground. The estate lies between the historic Roman town of Cirencester and the elegant spa town of Cheltenham, placing it in one of the most desirable rural regions in the country. Cirencester, often referred to as the “Capital of the Cotswolds,” offers a rich blend of history, markets, and independent shops, while Cheltenham is renowned for its regency architecture, cultural festivals, and vibrant dining scene. Beyond the estate, the surrounding Cotswold escarpment provides far-reaching views across Gloucestershire and beyond, with a network of footpaths and bridleways that make the area popular for walking, riding, and countryside pursuits. Traditional villages, country pubs, and historic churches are scattered throughout the landscape, each adding to the area’s timeless character. Well connected yet wonderfully rural, Brimpsfield enjoys easy access from London, the Midlands, and the North, making it an ideal destination for both day visitors and those looking to immerse themselves in authentic Cotswold countryside and hospitality.
